100. Chafford Gorge
When I was about 11 or 12, I used to cycle just about everywhere, to Lakeside to do some shopping or to the park. My friends and I would go on cycling adventures (with at least one of our parents too of course) and quite a few times I’d cycle to my friends’ houses and then we’d continue on to Chafford Gorge. We’d then have lunch at the picnic benches around the main lake. I know this may seem a little controversial now but we would sometimes feed the ducks a couple of the Baked Star crisps from our lunch too. I still often go back to the gorge, for a bit of photography, capturing each season as the trees and plants change. I feel that the gorge is very iconic for its birds, especially the Canada Geese. There are just so many of them. The swans, coots and mallard ducks are lovely too and you can sometimes spot a dragonfly or butterfly fluttering past.
