Interpreting historic aerial photography training with Historic England

Would you like to learn the skills needed to use & interpret historic aerial photography?

Join us for an online half day training course that will give you the skills needed to use aerial photography as a tool to help understand and interpret historic sites and landscapes.

The training, which will be lead by experts from Historic England’s Aerial Investigation & Mapping team, will be an enjoyable interactive session with a combination of presentations and practical exercises. Using the designed landscape at Belhus Park as a recent case study in the application of aerial photography, the training will cover:

  • The value of aerial photographs for historic research
  • Types, uses and sources of aerial photography
  • How to access sources of aerial photography
  • What you can see in different photographs

Participants will come away with a better understanding of aerial photographs and how they can be used.

The training session will be held online via Zoom on Friday 11th March, 9.30am – 1pm.

A booking fee of £5 applies.
