Riverfly Monitoring practical training – Eastbrookend Discovery Centre
The Land of the Faans and Thames21 coordinate a Riverfly Monitoring Initiative (RMI) on the Rivers Beam and Ingrebourne and are looking for more volunteers. The RMI is a national scheme for monitoring the health of rivers, developed by the Riverfly Partnership. It gives trained volunteers the tools to detect and report pollution events, builds essential long-term datasets on the health of rivers and links volunteers with other organisations working to improve our rivers.
RMI sampling uses the presence and abundance of invertebrates in a sample to gauge the health of your river. Free training in the sampling method will be provided by the Zoological Society of London.
